Position Overview

IMRAE is seeking a biligual, energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Project Coordinator / Estimator.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of construction, painting, coatings, architectural finishes, installation, or a related field, gained through hands-on experience, formal education, or a combination of both.

We are particularly interested in candidates with practical experience as a Painter, Lead Painter, Foreman, Journeyman, or other construction trade professional who has an interest in developing or expanding their estimating and project coordination skills.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Project Manager, who will provide overall guidance and direction on assigned projects, establish priorities, and set deadlines.

The Project Coordinator / Estimator will be responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, assisting with estimates and proposals, preparing RFIs as needed, coordinating project documentation, and meeting established deadlines.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project documents, including drawings, plans, specifications, bid documents, and project scopes, to identify painting, coating, and related finish requirements.
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for painting, coatings, surface preparation, and other applicable finishes.
  • Review surface preparation requirements, coating systems, number of coats, coverage rates, and material requirements based on project specifications.
  • Measure and calculate quantities accurately using construction drawings and project specifications.
  • Calculate labor and material quantities as required for estimating purposes.
  • Analyze construction specifications and bidding documents to identify project requirements, exclusions, discrepancies, and potential scope issues.
  • Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) when clarification is required and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing estimates, proposals, and supporting documentation based on completed quantity takeoffs and reviewed project documents.
  • Maintain organized project files, takeoffs, specifications, correspondence, and other project documentation.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with the Senior Project Manager, contractors, customers, vendors, and other project personnel.
  • Assist with job-site visits to evaluate existing conditions, project requirements, and work conditions when needed.
  • Participate in job-site assessments, including observations related to work execution and safety conditions.
  • Meet established deadlines and communicate promptly regarding project status, questions, or potential delays.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of IMRAE and other business units.
Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma; college-level education or a degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Design, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience in commercial painting, coatings, construction, estimating, or project coordination is preferred.
  • Experience as a Painter, Lead Painter, Foreman, Journeyman, or construction trade professional is highly relevant to this position.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations and unit conversions.
  • Ability to measure projects, understand coverage rates, and calculate labor and material quantities.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and apply project specifications when determining quantities and scope.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Thorough, reliable, and detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional email and computer communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn and utilize estimating, quantity takeoff, project management, and other construction-related software. Experience with such software is a plus but not required.
  • Comfortable visiting construction job sites and evaluating existing conditions and project requirements.

Compensation

Hourly Pay Rate: $22.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
